Privacy Policy

Food Truck Live Map (“we,” “us,” the “App”) helps you find West Michigan food trucks that are open and serving right now. We built this App to collect as little personal information as possible. This policy explains what we handle and why.
The short version
- Customers can use the App without an account.
- We use your location only while you’re using the App, to show trucks near you. We do not store your location or share it with the trucks.
- We do not sell your data and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Information we handle
- Approximate location — if you allow it, we use your device location to center the map on trucks near you. It is used on your device in the moment and is not saved to our servers or shared with truck owners.
- Content you submit — reviews, star ratings, and price votes you choose to post. If you add your name to a review, it is shown publicly with that review.
- A random device identifier — we generate a random ID stored on your device to attribute your votes and reviews and to prevent duplicate voting. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID, and it is not linked to your real-world identity.
- Preferences stored on your device — your favorite trucks and alert settings are stored locally on your phone.
- Truck owner information — if you are a food-truck owner and manage your truck in the App, we handle the business information you provide (business name, location/check-ins, contact links) and a private check-in PIN we issue to you so that only you can update your truck's live status. Keep your PIN confidential; contact us to reset it at any time.
How we use it
- To show which trucks are open and where.
- To display community reviews, ratings, and price levels.
- To send you notifications you turn on (for example, when a favorite truck goes live near you).
- To keep the community safe by reviewing reported content.
Notifications
If you enable alerts, we send push notifications for the trucks and area you choose. You can turn alerts off any time in the App or in your device settings.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the App. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — database and hosting for truck listings, check-ins, and reviews. (privacy)
- OpenStreetMap & CARTO / MapLibre — map tiles and mapping. (CARTO, OSM)
- Apple — app distribution and push notification delivery. (privacy)
- Google Analytics — on our website only (not in the app), to understand aggregate, anonymized visitor traffic (with IP anonymization). We do not use it to identify you or to sell data. (privacy)
Your choices
- Location: allow or deny in the App or in iOS Settings. The App still works without it.
- Reviews: to have a review you posted removed, email us at the address below.
- Report content: tap “Report” on any review to flag it. We review reports and remove violating content within 24 hours.
Data retention
Reviews and check-ins remain until removed by the poster/owner, by us for a violation, or on request. On-device data (favorites, settings, your random ID) is removed when you delete the App.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
